Yesterday, Sunday, June 1, the Official Journal published a decree giГ y toms announcing that henceforth all quarters of maternity leave would be taken into account for retirement, giГ y toms as agreed in the last reform. All mothers of women who have seen their children born since 1 January are concerned. "Maternity leave not create the 'hole' in the career," says Marisol Touraine in a statement yesterday. She adds: "Taking into account all quarters of maternity and adoption leave is a major breakthrough for women and families."
Now, "a quarter is counted for each new benefit period of 90 days," says the text. Whereas previously women could not recognize a quarter off a pregnancy, now they can claim more benefits: - For women with one or two children, things do not move, they will count a quarter for the first two pregnancies. - From the third child or the birth of twins, mothers can now confirm two quarters against one before the reform. - Finally, the birth of triplets will be entitled to a validation of three quarters.
In connection with the law of 20 January on the pension reform, a decree issued on March 20 provided that certain quarters (unemployment, disability, maternity) would be included in the contribution period needed to retire. Today is done and this reform will involve not less than 70,000 moms. According to the Minister of Social Affairs and Health: "This is evidence that pension reform justice and progress is possible."
