Abstract: marine benthic organisms such as sponges, often live in association with bacteria that produce antimicrobial compounds. This study aims to determine the ability antagonistic bacterial isolates associated with sponge Jaspis sp. against several bacterial pathogens, with qualitative screening trendy top method. A total of 32 (45.71%) and 20 (29.41%) isolates originating from the mesohyl and surface Jaspis sp. showed antimicrobial ability, being able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus trendy top aureus, Vibrio harveyii, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aerogenosa, EPEC K-11, Candida albicans, and C. tropicalis. Phenotypic test performed on some isolates with the best antimicrobial activity, namely trendy top SAB E-8, E-33 SAB, SAB E-35, E-38 SAB, SAB SAB E-40 and S-43. Gram staining results showed the E-8 isolates SAB, SAB E35, and SAB E-40 is a Gram-negative, whereas isolates SAB E-33, E-38 SAB, and SAB S-43 is a gram-positive, followed by partial identification (painting grams and catalase test) for Bacillus group.
